Projects for Kids

Here are a few Kid friendly crafts I and my kids do last summer.

                                                            Painted Birdhouse

I bought these already built bird houses @ Hobby Lobby, I just had the kids paint & being all girls                                      they wanted Glitter (which makes everything so much Better!! )
(coming summer 2014 we will be making our own Birdhouses out of recycled items)

DIY Sculpture
This one was a blast, it takes a few days to finish

Supplies: Wire, Foam block, Pantyhose, Hot glue, Gesso paint (white), Craft Paint

Take a sturdy & flexible wire, thick foam  cut to size, Cut the leg of any pantyhose (keeping toe intact).  Bend the wire into any shape you desire, place ea. end into the foam (you cut to size) I hot glued and stapled the ends in (secure as you please).  Place pantyhose over top part of wire, Working around wire to create desired shape, tie the open end on the bottom of  foam. (trim off access) No worries if there is a hole or tear you can work around it.  Paint over entire Sculpture with Gesso paint, let dry Over night and do a second layer of Gesso Paint. After entirely dry paint in any color allow paint to dry and you are set . A one of a kind sculpture made by you sweet lil someone!

Kid Art work

This I had the girls make to put up in their bathroom (which is a Colorful Fish Theme)
I drew and cut the fish out myself, however my girls are little so big kids could do this part them selves.
Then they colored it how ever they wanted. Took blue paper Drew bubbles on it with a white crayon, fold it accordion style all the way across, then cut slits the opposite way across. Place them in a frame taping them in place.

Bench into toy Shelf/ Organizer

Here I have an old bench. (sorry lost before picture) Solid wood, in which the seat lifted up for storage. My Husband screwed the seat down, I took off the front seat panel, added wood braces on either side & put it up as a shelf on top. Then Spray painted (yet again, something I do often) the whole thing with primer, then white paint. I hand painted the designs on top of seat and sides, I used my hands shadow to go around the heart  at top, and a stencil for the birds. This makes organizing the kids playroom so much easier

Hand painted the interior with a brush, due to the fact that the spray paint caused too much of a "paint                                                     dust cloud" I couldn't see what I was doing.

Used a variety of circle shaped dishes to make the painted rings.

Used a sponge round tip for the dot flowers.

DIY Anniversary Gift

January 2013 I had to come up with an idea for my In Laws Anniversary. I love to make gifts rather than buy them. So after much research for ideas, I found this and made it my own. The letter F (Fletcher), sewn ruby colored buttons (of a variety of sizes and shades) onto burlap. Cross stitched (my first time ever!!) the year they were married. Should mention i went with a red (ruby) color because it was their 40th anniversary which is traditionally a Ruby Anniversary!  The frame I bought @ Hobby Lobby (fav store) .

So Good Luck and Happy Crafting!

Today I thought I would share some of my little interior redesign ideas.  I was trying to think of some fun ways to decorate my Children's playroom. So after much research via Google. I took some game boards i had. Framed theme with Wood floor planks that my Husband & Father In Law cut for me, they are glued and stapled in the corners, I spray painted them bright fun Colors. Now they hang in their play room. If you are able to find  a thicker frame or Box frame you can store  the games pieces on the back by placing them in plastic baggies. Mine are not deep enough but they look great.
Sponge Bob Square pants "Sorry" game (Blue)

Dora the Explorer "CandyLand" game (Yellow)

Disney Monopoly game (Red)

Happy Crafting Everyone!
